All Back Full
Robert Lopez
(Author)
Description
Act One: At a kitchen table, a husband and wife discuss the news, nudists, and lie to each other about the ways they no longer connect. Act Two: At a kitchen table, a man and his friend discuss the weather, the state of public transportation, and lie to each other for the sake of something to say. Act Three: At a kitchen table, three people discuss, mostly, nothing, and watch the threads unravel as their lives come apart at the seams. Told in a genre-defying style that melds the depth of the novel with the honesty of the stage, All Back Full charts one day in a marriage at once usual and unusual, exploring what we say to each other when we say nothing, and the ways we speak to each other without words.Product Details

Reviews
"A daring, theatrical novel...fans of Lopez understand what he's up to; others may discover [the novel] has inched its way into their heads and hearts."
--Kirkus Reviews "Lopez's playful third novel ponders the nature of meaning and the inadequacy of language. Fans of Lopez's previous work will enjoy his latest, as will patient newcomers with an interest in drama and metafiction."
--Publishers Weekly "There is no way to view All Back Full as anything less than consummate art...In Lopez's hands, the ordinary is made strange."
--Guernica "A modern-day Waiting for Godot, only better: instead of radishes, there are fetishes, dolphins, and dwarfs. You can breeze through this poignant, funny, compelling book in an afternoon. And yet, it will stay with you for a very, very long time."
--Jessica Anya Blau, author of The Trouble with Lexie
