Such a sweet encouraging story that uses history to uplift and encourage. Thanks for writing with a purpose. Love Afro Puffs Held High and can see myself in the story as a young girl moving from Alabama to Massachusetts.
This book is a gift to society. It discusses the vulnerability and fear that those with marginalized identities have and still do live with through its beautiful illustration and age-appropriate language. Thank you to the author for 'going where angels fear to tread' and writing this book for children and adults to read, discuss, process, and find their own strength within.
Afro Puff Held High is a must read for every child regardless of their skin color. In this poignant children's story by Dr Frieda Millhouse Jones the reader will understand both the experience of being an "outsider" and the implications for those who can make them feel that way. Livi Lou has a lesson for all of us!
