One of her favorite memories is of getting her book of the month by mail and excitedly reading it the same day. She wants to share the same passion for reading with young people across the globe. She is fiercely dedicated to empowering young girls to overcome adversity by using her personal life experiences. Her previous works and advocacy seek to raise awareness surrounding issues of perfectionism, racism, and mental health. She enjoys naps, travel and yoga. She currently lives with her husband, two daughters and two very mischievous dogs.

Reviews

Such a sweet encouraging story that uses history to uplift and encourage. Thanks for writing with a purpose. Love Afro Puffs Held High and can see myself in the story as a young girl moving from Alabama to Massachusetts.

This book is a gift to society. It discusses the vulnerability and fear that those with marginalized identities have and still do live with through its beautiful illustration and age-appropriate language. Thank you to the author for 'going where angels fear to tread' and writing this book for children and adults to read, discuss, process, and find their own strength within.

Afro Puff Held High is a must read for every child regardless of their skin color. In this poignant children's story by Dr Frieda Millhouse Jones the reader will understand both the experience of being an "outsider" and the implications for those who can make them feel that way. Livi Lou has a lesson for all of us!
