These current day criminals, like the Santa Fe Ring before them, commit murder and mayhem with impunity. Sheriff Walker's battle to prevail culminates in a deadly chase down the Rio Grande's notorious whitewater, the Taos Box.

About the Author

C. R. Koons is the pen name for Cedar R. Koons who in addition to the Sheriff Ulysses Walker series has published nonfiction, The Mindfulness Solution for Intense Emotions (2016 New Harbinger) and poetry, Bourbon and Branch Water (2023 Kelsay Books) as well as numerous academic chapters and research articles. A retired psychotherapist and consultant, Koons lives in the village of Dixon, New Mexico where she writes, serves as an acequia commissioner, gardens, raises chickens and plays in a marimba band. She is married to the photographer Edward Scheps and they have four children and four grandchildren.
