About the Author

Michael Gaspeny is the author of a novella in verse, The Tyranny of Questions (Unicorn Press) and the chapbooks Re-Write Men and Vocation. He has won the Randall Jarrell Poetry Competition and the O. Henry Festival Short Fiction Contest. His fiction has appeared in storySouth, Brilliant Corners, The Greensboro Review, and numerous anthologies. For hospice service, he received The (North Carolina) Governor's Award for Volunteer Excellence. He taught English for nearly four decades, mainly at Bennett College and High Point University, where he won the distinguished teaching award. A former reporter, Gaspeny covered the Arkansas Razorbacks and Bill Clinton's first campaign for national office. His stories about Clinton have often been quoted in works about the ex-president. A graduate of the MFA program in creative writing at the University of Arkansas, Gaspeny is married to the novelist and essayist Lee Zacharias. They have two sons, Al and Max.
