For most of the digital era, there was virtually nothing in print dedicated to the craft of making fonts. Many relied on old software manuals that are no longer relevant to today’s tools and standards. Today, there are at least eight excellent instructional books that specifically focus on the practice of type design, adding to the few classics on history and theory (like The Stroke, Counterpunch, and Letters of Credit).
