JR: The book has drawn some very favourable comparisons to some very varied stories, from Big Little Lies to A Little Life. What were your biggest inspirations when writing?

These books could be loosely divided into overlapping categories of friendship novels, campus novels, and books about new motherhood, but more importantly for my purposes is that they all made me feel the way(s) I hope The Other’s Gold makes a reader feel. - Elizabeth Ames
