Regeneration is an ancient idea, known among indigenous people as the secret to bringing the soul of any living entity into the full presence of its being, with increasingly meaningful ways of contributing throughout its life. Whether a child, a farm, a community or a business. Even a planet or county. It takes some discovery and reflection since the essence of a being is not accessible with the senses and not an analytical sorting or a ‘you figure it out’ process. It is more like writing poetry when the poetry uses you to write itself. (Mary Oliver, my favorite poet writes from this inner place. See Red Bird particularly which is included here. Enabling a being to express its/his/her Essence into the world in a significant way to live life outrageously and fully. The term regeneration has become a bit tarnished by popularization, and therefor banalization, in recent times, but it is possible to get back to the core if we persist. These ten books are seeking to remind us about how it can show up in land use of a place, expression of a young girl who becomes a serial entrepreneur, community development when it is Place-Sourced and hundreds of life roles in between.
Books help us see how a powerful ideas can blossom over many persons, arenas, disciplines each seeking to awaken an idea in a new way. Such is the idea of Essence Expression, the engine of Regeneration, which is the thread through my ten books. Soul is the sacred name of Essence. Each of these books is illustrative in message and artistry, including four of mine, who were birthed by collaborative projects.

Feedback is one of the thirty toxic practices presented in The Regenerative Business. No More Feedback, filled with research, psychology and work practices, offers the history of feedback (i.e. the evaluation and reflection from one, or more, persons to another person when it is intended to shape their behavior to fit standards and norms) There are twenty case stories of what to do instead to support the development of all humans to pursue three core human capacities. These capacities are what we can and must to bring forward to realize potential in each person. Only with the removal of the Toxic Practices can the workforce and society itself continue to move toward greater and greater Essence expression. Otherwise individuals, organizations and even communities are blocked from seeing a path up and out of conformity and compliance to social boundaries.

Mary Oliver's twelfth book of poetry, Red Bird comprises sixty-one poems, the most ever in a single volume of her work. Overflowing with her keen observation of the natural world and her gratitude for its gifts, for the many people she has loved in her life, as well as for her disobedient dog Percy, Red Bird is a quintessential collection of Oliver's finest lyrics. It fits here since each poem speaks to Regeneration, as Spring comes after the snow, symbolized by the red bird arriving as the snow begins its departure, opening the world again to evolve itself another year.
