Joe Haldeman$16.99 $15.63
I loved this book and it’ll probably become one of my staple recommendations. Written by a Vietnam war veteran, the book uses the setting of a futuristic war as a commentary on how veterans feelings about the war and how out of place they felt returning home.
Cixin Liu$17.99 $16.55
I really enjoyed this book. It's the first of the trilogy, so there's a lot of storyline left. I went into the book knowing nothing about it besides that it was sci-fi. I recommend this, as piecing together the story and answering the unknowns was a large part of what kept me engaged. I will say that parts of the book are pretty technical. If you get bogged down by that it might not be your cup of tea. I also had to reference the character list at the start a few times when names are mentioned that haven't been referenced recently.
George Orwell$22.00 $20.24
Philip K. Dick$16.00 $14.72
I thought this book was fine. I enjoyed reading through it, but it didn’t feel as substantive as Forever War. The book takes place in an entirely different universe from Forever War, but analyzes war through a different lens. Without getting too much into, I think you may be better off skipping this one.
