I had tears in my eyes by page 6 and was crying outright a few pages later. If you have a dog, especially an older one, you've got to get this book. It made me want to hug my dog (carefully) and spend time with him, maybe take him for a very slow walk!
As I read the story, I kept thinking about my grandnieces, ages 2, 4, 4, and 5. This book was describing them. Their hair is a tangled mess every morning and none of them want to have the snarls brushed out. Such a funny book!

A little girl goes to school for the first time and discovers she has something more important to learn than reading: self-control. It's not easy, but she keeps trying. Sweet and funny.
Margaret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd$18.99 $17.47
Calm and peaceful, darkening as the story progresses. "Good night, bowl full of mush"
Cori Doerrfeld$17.99 $16.55
When something sad happens, Taylor doesn't know where to turn. All the animals are sure they have the answer. One by one, the animals try to tell Taylor how to act, and one by one they fail to offer comfort. Then the rabbit arrives. All the rabbit does is listen . . . which is just what Taylor needs. [A wonderful book to share with a child experiencing sadness.]
Norman Bridwell and Norman Bridwell$8.99 $8.27
This is the original cover! Well, not 70 years old, it's the same as the cover that was on the book I read as a child. I wanted so much to be just like Emily and have a huge dog like she had!
Margery Williams and William Nicholson$19.99 $18.39
A gorgeous soft, velvety cover that makes you want to hug the book!
Dr Seuss$18.99 $17.47
Do you remember this book?! So much optimism: you will love reading this one to the next generation.
