Natalie's Hair Was Wild!

Laura Freeman

As I read the story, I kept thinking about my grandnieces, ages 2, 4, 4, and 5. This book was describing them. Their hair is a tangled mess every morning and none of them want to have the snarls brushed out. Such a funny book!

We Don't Eat Our Classmates

Ryan T. Higgins

$17.99 $16.55

A little girl goes to school for the first time and discovers she has something more important to learn than reading--self-control. It's not easy, but she keeps trying. Sweet and funny.

Monday, Wednesday, and Every Other Weekend

Karen Stanton and Karen Stanton

This was a hard one to read but I ended up recommending it to people looking for a book for children of divorce. The story is told from the child's point of view and begins light-hearted. Then the boy's dog runs away to their former house, where the boy and parents lived before the divorce. The boy tells the dog the things adults usually say to kids, and that might be why I like it: It's not an adult saying platitudes to the children being read to, it's a boy who understands what they're going through. Divorce is horribly scarring to the kids--like being burned in a fire--and this boy has survived to tell future burn victims that they, too, will be happy again...some day. Sad yet hopeful.

Goodnight Moon (Revised)

Calm and peaceful, darkening as the story progresses. "Good night, bowl full of mush"

Clifford the Big Red Dog: Vintage Hardcover Edition

Norman Bridwell

$8.99 $8.27

This is the original cover! Well, not 70 years old, it's the same as the cover that was on the book I read as a child. I wanted so much to be just like Emily and have a huge dog like she had!

The Velveteen Rabbit or How Toys Become Real

Margery Williams and William Nicholson

$19.99 $18.39

A gorgeous soft, velvety cover that makes you want to hug the book!

Grahame Baker-Smith

The dad is always busy working on his flying invention, but sometimes he notices his son and spends the day with him. Then the dad goes off to war...When the son grows up, he picks up his father's dream and tries to fly. Your eyes will have tears by the time you get to the end.

Oh, the Places You'll Go!

Dr Seuss

$18.99 $17.47

Do you remember this book?! So much optimism: you will love reading this one to the next generation.
