Native American Authors You Should Know About
This list honors more than three generations of indigenous authors who have contributed their voices to American literature. November is Native American Heritage Month, a great opportunity to bring these authors and their works to your attention.
- Titles are listed alphabetically by author
- Authors are represented by their most notable book, except in a few cases where it's impossible to pick just one title or where the author is also the editor of a significant anthology.
- And, speaking of anthologies, the next to the last couple of rows of this list feature eight noteworthy collections of Native American fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
- The list concludes with eight cookbooks featuring indigenous food and recipes compiled by Native American authors.
