I did not know a whole lot about China beginning with the second Sino Japanese War and then WWII and ending with the Communist Revolution. I found it amazing this debut author spent so much effort researching the time period intertwining with the characters of Meilin and Renshu. It is one of the best historical fiction books I have read.

"I enjoyed reading The Golden Couple. It begins as just a story about an unfaithful wife who seeks out therapy with her angry husband. Something does not add up with their conflicting stories. You think you have it all figured out, but the story has an interesting twist at the end."

Banned Books 2019 Pick - "I enjoyed Forever by Judy Blume. It was written in 1975 and portrayed a real example of what a typical 18 year old girl might encounter with sexuality and birth control. Reading this book years later makes me wish I had the support that Katharine did."

Indie Bookstore Day 2020 Pick -“Pretty Guilty Women is about four women who confess to a murder. Three friends meet a their friend Whitney’s wedding, and a murder takes place during the rehearsal dinner. The police question the three women and a friend, LuLu, and they all confess to the murder. The author dealt with serious issues of infertility, physical abuse, depression and the bond between a mother and child. This was easy to pick up and nearly impossible to put down. A good summer read!”
