It’s time for the first #DowntownOKCBestSellerList of the new year!
The best selling books in #downtownOKC for December 2023 were:
1. In the Morning, the City Is the Prairie by Rob Roensch
Roensch has captured something essential about being young and adrift while also distilling contemporary OKC and Oklahoma. His ability to convey intensely personal emotions and gracefully render powerful imagery is incredible. Published by Belle Point Press.
2. Bigfoot Watching Woman Watching Bigfoot by M. Sparks Clark Oklahoma LOVES Ele Carmichael (and so do we)! This thriller with a big heart and a sense of humor set in the Kiamichi Mountains of southeast Oklahoma continues to fly off our shelves.
3. Taylor Swift: A Little Golden Book
Can’t stop, won’t stop. T. Swift maintains her place on the downtown charts just like her spot in the Billboard charts.
4. Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice
Our read for the Feb 1st meeting of #thebookclubattheendoftheworld, this is a book about survival, community, and continuity in the face of overwhelming challenges, not just from the cataclysm that occurs in the book, but throughout the history of the Anishinaabe. An new-classic apocalyptic tale, and the sequel comes out Feb 27.
5. A Court of Thorn and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
It was a cold January, and OKC kept warm by reading spicy fantasy, especially Maas’s books. #LiveMaas
6. Prophet Song by Paul Lynch
The Booker Prize winning novel depicts a dystopia in a near-future Ireland with echoes of contemporary political events. An indispensable read.
7. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Dragonriders and sexy times? Downtown OKC just can’t quit them.
8. Sasquatch Serial Killer by M. Sparks Clark
#BigfootWatchingWomanWatchingBigfoot readers keep coming back for the second book in the Ele Carmichael trilogy! You should, too.
9. Shady Hollow by Juneau Black
We’ve been recommending this to anyone and everyone looking for a cozy read and/or a new mystery series. Get hip to the world of #ShadyHollow today.
10. Shark Heart by Emily Habeck
Books like #SharkHeart don’t come along very often- Habeck takes bold risks in style, form, and subject, and they pay off beautifully and heartbreakingly. A stunning debut, and one of our very favorites from 2023.
Once again, downtown OKC readers have made such a great list of books. Congratulations to Rob Roensch for once again topping the monthly best seller list!
#thefloatingbookshop is downtown OKC’s bookstore, located on historic Film Row, and is open 7 days a week.
