Amistad Books recently called for the purchase of any two books by Black writers. "Our goal," they wrote, "is to Blackout bestseller lists with Black voices." As a translator, I've been thinking how great it would be to get Black authors in English translation on those bestseller lists, too. Here are a number of recommendations (including some of my own favorites at the top) from translators, readers, writers, publishers and scholars; I hope you come across at least a couple, and if you have further suggestions, please just let me know!
