So you’ve watched everything on Netflix. Love is Blind is old news and Tiger King only had 8 episodes. You’re on the hunt for your next bingeable series, and I’m here to tell you where to turn next. Books! Book series are just as bingeable as TV shows, with some major advantages. Now that we have all moved our lives online, reading a physical book can be such a respite from the endless parade of screens. The series' I’m recommending to you today are engrossing, fun, and contain multiple volumes for your enjoyment!
Brandon Sanderson$9.99 $9.19
Embark on Brandon Sanderson’s epic 10 volume high fantasy series in the tradition of The Wheel of Time. 3 books are currently out, each one more intricate and delightful than the last. The world Sanderson has built is incredible and the characters are so compelling. Plus, 3500 pages should keep you reading for a while, right?
Mary Robinette Kowal$18.99 $17.47
This is a series that I completely fell head-over-heels for and finished in a few days. I’m still waiting on the third book – it comes out in July, but this alternate history of the world is phenomenal. An extinction level event occurs in 1952, and suddenly the space race becomes incredibly important. Plans to colonize Mars must move forward quickly, so that humanity will have a place to go. At the center of this disaster and its response is Elma York, a brilliant, trailblazing pilot who must combat institutionalized sexism in order to be the first female astronaut and help forge the future of humanity.
Louise Penny$17.99 $16.55
I have never seen my mother tear through a series like she tore through this one. We have every single book, and she gets the new ones as soon as they come out. I am a recent convert to Louise Penny, but now that I’ve started to read them, I can’t see myself stopping anytime soon.
Vivian Shaw$15.99 $14.71
Dr. Greta Helsing is a doctor to the Undead (of all strains) and as if that alone does not make for a good story, she and her Undead friends and companions are solving supernatural mysteries. They are quirky, they are engaging, and they are different than anything else that I have ever read. The characters are so well developed and the stories meld the present, the past, and a whole lot of monsters.
Cinda Williams Chima$9.99 $9.19
This is one of the best series I’ve ever seen come out of YA. I had the urge to reread them all recently, and I could not put them down. I read the whole quartet in a few days. The world is so much richer than you would expect, the story has some twists that you won’t anticipate, and the characters are strong and relatable.
