It's about growing up in a cult, except it's much more about SURVIVING growing up in a cult, as well as surviving Don't Ask Don't Tell in the Air Force, and surviving living out of her car in DC, and surviving suburban lesbian relationships, and surviving 21st Century bad jobs, and finding a life as a bouncer at a gay club, and much more. If you ask me what is her STYLE of writing, I will talk to you about the VOICE she grew in order to write this tale, and in writing the tale, survive the story. Highly recommended!
