"Trees are the Ancient Ones. They hold a vast wisdom that can heal all ills of body, mind, and spirit. Open this book and open a door to the details of that wisdom, brought to you by one of my favorite herbal authors, Ellen Evert Hopman. Ellen is actually a tree, "disguised" as a person, so she speaks to us directly from the heart of the Ancient Mysteries. There is something for everyone here, whether you seek food for your psyche or physic for your woes."

Susun S. Weed, author of the Wise Woman Herbal Series, including Healing Wise

"Ellen Evert Hopman has an intimate relationship with trees. It's unusual to find a book on tree medicine and magic that comes from the perspective of a North American practitioner who is so deeply steeped in the magic of the land where she lives and also well versed in the old stories of Britain. Ellen is a practicing herbalist and knows lots about the many trees that grow in the land where she lives, including herbal and magical lore. You will learn about the parts of the trees that may be used, how to collect them and about using them, including for dying and for food, as well as remedies. She twines all this lore of medicine, herbalism, and magic together in her work.

Reading this book immerses you in tree-ness. This is something our ancestors did, and it's well time we remembered these old ways of knowing and being connected to the Earth - they work. I'll be keeping this book on my shelves, dipping into it whenever I need information as well as snuggling up with it, for it's a good read and there's lots in there beyond the surface to stir the threads of ancestral memory."
