About the Author

KELSEY BLAIR played varsity basketball at the University of British Columbia and semi-professional basketball in Sweden. She is currently a PhD candidate at Simon Fraser University, where she researched the history of the rules of women's basketball in Canada for her dissertation on sport and performance. Her knowledge of basketball action and details of the rules of the game helped her write this story about rivalry, fairness, and friendship. She lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Reviews

"Tough Call is a slice-of-life, plot-driven book that focuses on themes of finding voice, teen friendships, and juggling expectations. Formatted in an easy-to-read layout, this work offers readers a short, fast-paced tale in digestible language and interactions. Tough Call will appeal to readers seeking a straightforward and realistic narrative."-- (12/21/2018)
"At a reading level of 3.0, this novel is accessible to many students and shows insight into both basketball and character. Another good addition to the Lorimer Sports Stories series!"-- (12/21/2018)
This high-interest, low-vocab story had me hooked from the beginning ... Readers can see why it's hard to make the right choice at all times, but also how the rewards are greater in the end for doing the right thing.--Canadian Teacher
