Description

Trustworthiness is not a destination, it's a way of life! -C. Gilbert

In today's rapidly-changing global society, do you wonder what it means to make honest decisions, and hold yourself and others accountable in your personal, professional, and family lives? Do you want to know how you can become:

  • more authentic in your relationships
  • more transparent in your organizations
  • better able to identify the reality behind increasingly outrageous "alternative truths"

The truth is, we have only two choices when it comes to an honest world - we can either continue down our current path of increasingly situational ethics that treat some more fairly than others and where honesty in our connections and relationships is the luck of the draw. Or, we can believe we have the capacity to create a world that operates on an integrity practiced by everyone for everyone.

In There's No Right Way to Do the Wrong Thing, you'll find answers to these concerns and more as author Christopher Gilbert invites readers into an accessible and inspirational conversation spiced with an abundance of personal stories, humorous anecdotes and invaluable guidance about making good choices. Drawing upon decades of research, training and ethics consulting experience, There's No Right Way to Do the Wrong Thing brings a fresh approach to personal growth and an honesty that empowers a brighter future for all of us.

Whether you're an ethics expert or simply someone navigating the moral mud around us, this easy-to-follow book will have you examining your own standards and values and applying transformative concepts to your life. Most importantly, readers will finish this book encouraged that we all have the power and capacities-- individually and collectively-- to morally progress past where we are now and help bring better ethics into our families, our communities, our organizations and our world.

Reviews

"It is fast paced, easy to read and covers a lot of ground. One thing which I identify with is your position that there is less "grey" that we sometimes think! Russell had a value position of "non-negotiable integrity" and I see this laid out very clearly in the book. I have not seen a distinction between morals and ethics as well delineated than in this work. This is a great primer for corporate and individual social responsibility. I really liked the book."

- Mike Phillips, Board Chairperson, Altaira Capital Partners Ltd., Past CEO, Russell Investments

"There's No Right Way to Do the Wrong Thing offers the wisdom of the ages in a style that is deep and easy to understand. Science has made tremendous strides over the last 200 years. Through a book that is both personal and professional, Dr. Gilbert has encapsulated ethical mileposts into 21 Principles of Leading an Ethically Driven Life and 9 Noble Steps. These nuggets of wisdom, called Moral Progressivism, help us reflect on living a truly ethical life. Dr. Gilbert reminds us that ethics at its highest level should be based on the virtues of Truth and Trustworthiness. Ethics is what allows societies to function and civilization to advance. This book is a window into a future that will be both challenging and rewarding. Recommended reading for all sentient beings."

- Trip Barthel, Author of Transforming Conflict into Consensus

"Dr. Gilbert's unique approach to creating greater honesty and integrity in our lives is a must read! It provides insight, optimism and humor on the opportunity we have to change things as individuals and make a difference in our families, organizations and communities. This is a great book and I highly recommend it to everyone!"

- Randie Gottlieb, Ed.D., Founding Executive Director, UnityWorks Foundation

"Dr. Gilbert has written an engaging and insightful book that is both grounded in theory and immensely practical. It culminates in nine steps that support each of us in reaching the ethical high ground, and along the way we are treated to stories and examples that bring the material to life. Rarely does a book bring together so many important ideas and empower us to make better moral choices. Gilbert's work is an enjoyable, meaningful, accessible book for everyone."

- Dr. Jill Purdy, Executive Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Associate Vice-Chancellor for Undergraduate Affairs, Professor of Management, University of Washington, Tacoma

"Dr. Christopher Gilbert has delivered a much-needed tonic in an increasingly toxic moral era. His vast experiences in researching and teaching in the field of ethics, combined with his deeply held personal beliefs and seasoned practice in living out the principles he shares, combine to make There's No Right Way to Do the Wrong Thing an insightful and powerful guide that will enrich us all. There's no more right time than now to sharpen the ethical lens of our lives, and this is the book that can do it!"
