About the Author
Murray Pittock is the A. C. Bradley Professor of Literature at Glasgow University and the author of several books, including A New History of Scotland, Scottish Nationality, and Inventing and Resisting Britain.
"The Road to Independence? is probably the most accessible, contemporary, and comprehensive introduction to Scottish society and politics today available in the market. It is lucidly written and outlines the development of Scottish society since the 1960s in a most succinct manner, allowing the reader to capture the overall picture quickly. This edition is fully updated, and as a result the discussion of the development to the forthcoming referendum is truly contemporary. . . . a timely, well-written and committed study of contemporary Scottish society and nationalism."--Nations and Nationalism
