About the Author
Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda (Siddha) has been practicing and teaching the science of yoga for more than forty-five years. In 1977, he founded the Science of Identity Foundation and later a number of worldwide Chaitanya Missions. Siddha's spiritual quest began when he was a teenager. By the age of 20, Siddha, known as Sai at the time, mastered ashtanga and kundalini yogas and attained the goal of these processes, Brahman realization. Siddha then met Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, a world-renowned teacher from India coming from an unbroken lineage of self-realized yoga spiritual masters. Although Siddha had many followers at the time, he accepted initiation from Swami Prabhupada, who gave him the name Siddhaswarupananda, "the blissfulness derived from the perfection of realizing one's eternal spiritual form." Moved by compassion for the suffering in the world, Siddha traveled, penniless, to the Hawaiian island of Kauai, where he opened a self-sustaining yoga ashram in the countryside. He became an instructing guru of many people in Hawaii and around the world. After his spiritual teacher's departure from this world, and at the request of those whose lives he had touched, Siddha began to directly initiate disciples himself.
