Reviews

"This book does a wonderful job of defining what PR is in a changing environment. It is great for practitioners as well as young people. I can't wait to give it to my granddaughter who is thinking about a PR career. In clear, inspiring language it explains what we do." --Charlotte R. Otto, former Global External Relations Officer, Procter & Gamble "The practice of modern PR is both art and science, strategy and execution, fact and finely tuned intuition. This book taps into all of that and is a great practical guide." --Mary Lynn Carver, Chief Communications Officer and Global Vice President, General Mills "Public relations has the power to do more than communicate. In The Art & Craft of PR, Sandra Stahl shows us how and why that is so important." --Mike Fernandez, former U.S. Chief Executive Officer, Burson-Marsteller "Sandra's book is a valuable reminder of the role of public relations and clarifies the opportunities ahead for the profession. Our ability to have conversations with people is greater than ever before, but it is important to remember the fundamental purpose of human engagement." --Jon Iwata, former Senior Vice President and Chief Brand Officer, IBM "This fine debut by Stahl, a co-founder of marketing communications agency jacobstahl, is a concise overview of the PR field that offers a forward-looking perspective on the impact of modern communications technology." --Reviewed by Kirkus Reviews "Expertly written, deftly organized and presented, The Art & Craft of PR is an ideal and thoroughly 'user-friendly' instructional manual and guide for creating and implementing effective public relation campaigns and activities. Of special note are the chapters 'Never forget, it's business' and 'What's next for PR?' Enhanced with the inclusion of a four-page listing of Resources, a two page Epilogue, nine pages of 'Notes and further reading', The Art & Craft of PR is unreservedly recommended for corporate, community, and academic library Business Management collections in general, and Public Relations supplemental studies lists in particular." --Reviewed by Jim Cox for Midwest Book Review "Redefining PR for the social-media era is no small task, but Stahl makes it seem infinitely easier and more accessible in The Art & Craft of PR. I'd recommend this not only to PR personnel but to anyone who hopes to use social media to build their brand." --Reviewed by Glenn Dallas for Manhattan Book Review "I loved how organized and fun this non-fiction title was. The best part was the messages from masters of the PR world. Their advice is something that could work for all interested learners, whether you're just starting out or refreshing your knowledge on the topic." --Reviewed by Danielle Urban for Urban Book Reviews
