About the Author
Born in southern Ontario Jay first heard 'the call of the north' he recalls, while laying awake in his uncle's home tucked deep in the north woods of Algonquin Park in 1959. Always a woodsman: even in his formative years, like his father he never betrayed that calling. He served in the RCAF and found himself on the Pinetree Radar Line of the north. Ideally he pursued these tales in remote bars and small hamlets there, deliberately seeking out the characters who formed the basis of his poetry and stories. Eventually he became a Law Enforcement Consultant: almost exclusively to the RCMP while at the same time serving as crew chief of an elite 'high angle rope rescue team' with Search and Rescue BC. Jay now lives in semi-retirement in Edmonton, Alberta. It is the author's sincere desire that this collection of his poetry leaves its' readers warm of heart and fulfilled.
