About the Author

Marvin M. Ellison is Willard S. Bass Professor of Christian Ethics at Bangor Theological Seminary, Maine. He received his doctorate from Union Theological Seminary, New York City, and is an ordained Presbyterian minister. Principal author of the 1991 Presbyterian sexuality study, his works, among others, include Same-Sex Marriage? A Christian Ethical Analysis (2004), and, with coeditor Kelly Brown Douglas, Sexuality and the Sacred (2010).

Kelly Brown Douglas is the Elizabeth Conolly Todd Distinguished Professor of Religion at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland.
James B. Nelsonwass Professor of Christian Ethics at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. He received his Ph.D. from Yale University and has done postdoctoral study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Before joining the seminary faculty he served parishes in Connecticut and South Dakota. Among his previous books are Human Medicine: Ethical Perspectives on New Medical Issues; and Rediscovering the Person in Medical Care.
