About the Author
A 1930 summertime and then permanent resident of Holland Point, Janet Bates attended Washington College and has served as director of the Holland Point Citizens Association. She solicited and scanned the photographs and gathered facts for captions. Joy Baker, a resident since 1985, has been secretary and director for the association. She recorded interviews of longtime residents and used skills from her degree in computer science for this book. Alice Birney, a weekender since 1994, has a doctorate in literature, has worked as a library literary specialist in Washington, D.C., since 1973, and has published two scholarly books.
Lambert Davis has illustrated numerous books for children, including the best-selling The Jolly Mon and Whales Passing, a Parents' Choice Recommended title. Born in Hawaii and having spent many years living near the ocean in California, Davis often creates artwork that reflects the beauty of the sea. When not painting, he enjoys surfing, sailing, and traveling. Davis now lives with his wife and their two sons on the southeastern coast of Australia. His Web site is lambertdavis.com.
