About the Author

Lauren Beukes writes novels, comics and screeplays. She's the author of the critically-acclaimed international best-seller Broken Monsters, as well as The Shining Girls, about a time traveling serial killer, Zoo City, a phantasmagorical Joburg noir and winner of the 2011 Arthur C Clarke Award, and the neo-political thriller Moxyland. She worked as a journalist and as show runner on one of the South Africa's biggest animated TV shows, directed an award-winning documentary and wrote the New York Times best-selling graphic novel, Fairest: The Hidden Kingdom. She lives in Cape Town, South Africa.
Selena Chambers' fiction and non-fiction have appeared in a variety of venues including MungBeing magazine, Clarkesworld, The Non-Binary Review, Pornokitsch, Tor.com, Bookslut, and in recent anthologies such as Cthulhu's Daughter (Prime Books, 2016), and Cassilda's Song (Chaosium, 2015). Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart, Best of the Net, the Hugo award, and two World Fantasy awards, including one in 2016 for the story The Neurastheniac, included in this collection. Writing as S. J. Chambers in 2011, she co-authored the critically-acclaimed and best- selling The Steampunk Bible with Jeff Vandermeer (Abrams Image), but has since eschewed the initials. She is currently editing an anthology with Jason Heller for Hex Publishing named Mechanical Animals, forthcoming in 2018.
Jason Heller is the author of Strange Stars, Taft 2012, and numerous short stories in magazines and anthologies. He's also a Hugo Award-winning editor for his work in Clarkesworld Magazine. Jason has written about pop culture for The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NPR, Entertainment Weekly, The A.V. Club, and many others. In his spare time, he plays guitar in the post-punk band Weathered Statutes and is a resident DJ at Funk Club and Mile High Soul Club. He lives in Denver with his wife, Angie.
