About the Author
Lafcadio Hearn (1850-1904) was a writer, critic, amateur engraver, and journalist. He wrote extensively about the cultures of Louisiana and is considered the first major Western chronicler of Japanese culture. His many books include La Cuisine Creole: A Collection of Culinary Recipes (1885), Gombo Zhebes (1885), Chita (1889), and Glimpses of Unfamiliar Japan (1894).
Paul Murray was born in 1975 in Dublin. His debut, An Evening of Long Goodbyes (2003), was short-listed for the Whitbread First Novel Award and the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award. His second novel, Skippy Dies (2010), was short-listed for the Costa Novel Award, was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, and was named one of Time's Top 10 Fiction Books of the year.
