About the Author

Nicholas Mosley was born in London on June 25, 1923 and was educated at Eton and Oxford. He served in Italy during World War II, and published his first novel, Spaces of the Dark, in 1951. His book Hopeful Monsters won the 1990 Whitbread Award.

Reviews

"The impossible object of the title, "the triangle that can exist in two dimension but not in three," is the symbol that resonates throughout the book: that it's impossible to have happiness, have a good life, unless one realizes the impossibility of attaining it. This central tenet is what makes this a "life changing book." Mosley is a guru of sorts, a writer who can pose the questions that force you to reexamine the possibilities for life and fiction. This is my all-time favorite Dalkey book (well, one of my five), and one that I'm sure will be recommended from one reader to the next a hundred years from now.
