About the Author
Kate McMullan is the author of many books for young readers, including How Do You Take a Bath? with Sydney Hanson; I Stink!, winner of the Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor, and I'm Mighty! with her husband, noted illustrator Jim McMullan; and Meg's Prairie Diary, a historical fiction trilogy set in St. Louis and Kansas in 1856. She has been fascinated by the Lewis and Clark Expedition since the age of ten, when an uncle told her about an ancestor who had gone on the expedition. That ancestor was sixteen-year-old George Shannon. Kate lives in New York City and Sag Harbor, New York, with her husband. Sydney Hanson is the illustrator of How Do You Take a Bath?, written by Kate McMullan, and Panda Pants, written by Jacqueline Davies. Sydney was raised in Minnesota alongside numerous pets, and her illustrations and paintings still reflect a love for animals and the natural world. In addition to her book illustrations, Sydney is an experienced 2-D and 3-D production artist who has worked for several animation companies, including Nickelodeon and Disney Interactive.
"Writing in cadenced, lulling rhyme, McMullan compares animal sleeping habits to those of various children, inviting readers to ponder their own slumbering style." --Kirkus Reviews "Young readers will want to cuddle up with the cozy animal babies and may chuckle as the kids try out the different sleeping methods.... A bedtime book that will soothe and please." --School Library Journal "A dozen animals are introduced before the text turns to the variety of ways in which human children actually sleep, culminating in a sweet wind-down to cuddles and snores." --Booklist
