About the Author

Dr. Jeffrey L. Gurian is often described as a "Renaissance" man! He does a lot of things. He is a retired Cosmetic Dentist and a former Assoc. Clinical Prof. at NYU in the Oral Medicine/Oro-Facial Pain Department where he taught for 12 years. He's also a practitioner of Spiritual Healing and Energy Work and has been on the Board of The Assoc. for Spirituality and Psychotherapy since 1999, where he has lectured in their one year course, and at Energy Psychology conferences in New York, Rhode Island, Georgia and Canada on his technique known as "STAR" Therapy, an acronym for Spiritual, Transformational, Affirmative, Resonance Therapy. It's a very gentle system of "talk and touch" used to treat the physical symptoms of stress-related illness including Migraine-type headaches, head, neck and shoulder pain, ear pain, dizziness, and Tinnitus often associated with a TMJ causation. One of the very few doctors with a longstanding career in comedy, Dr. Gurian is also a nationally known comedy writer/comic/producer/author and the host of Comedy Matters TV, an internet channel with over 400 interviews he's done with A-listers like Jimmy Fallon, Chelsea Handler, Bob Saget, Trevor Noah, Jack Black, Susie Essman, Louis CK, Jim Carrey and so many more. He's written for legendary comedians like Rodney Dangerfield, Joan Rivers, Jerry Lewis, Phil Hartman, Richard Belzer and Gilbert Gottfried, and has performed stand-up in all the major clubs in NYC and L.A. A frequent guest on radio and TV he recently wrote a book called "Laughing Legends" with an intro by Chris Rock, and was the first to be pranked with "Too Much Tuna" on Comedy Central's Kroll Show with Nick Kroll and John Mulaney. In this book he teaches us how to look at life with a humorous perspective, as he's done to overcome many obstacles in his own life which he openly shares with the reader. He was one of the doctors featured on NPR's "Walking Through The Storm" an audio CD featuring doctors talking about how to use the mind and humor to promote physical healing, and was one of the producers of the Hamptons Comedy Festival, the fund raising arm for Comedy Fights Cancer. There's no one better to have written a book like this!
