About the Author

Dr. Sandberg-Lewis is a practitioner of Naturopathic gastroenterology. He has been in practice for over 40 years and has been a professor of gastroenterology at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon, for 22 years. He continues to engage in patient care at Hive Mind Medicine in Portland, Oregon ([email protected]). Dr. Sandberg-Lewis is a frequent presenter at educational seminars internationally, writes a column entitled Functional Gastroenterology Bolus for the Townsend Letter and is the author of the textbook entitled Functional Gastroenterology: Assessing and Addressing the Causes of Functional GI Disorders (2017, www.amazon.com). He and his family have also created a comic book explanation of SIBO entitled Nuthin' Funnies about SIBO. Sandberg-Lewis is the focus of numerous podcasts, interviews and webinars. Dr. Sandberg-Lewis often treats patients whose health conditions have defied diagnosis despite exhaustive medical testing or complex digestive disorders that have not responded to treatment. Areas of special focus include irritable bowel syndrome, SIBO, GERD, hiatal hernia, inflammatory bowel disease (including microscopic colitis), biliary dyskinesia, gastroparesis and unrelenting nausea.

Reviews

"There is no other book like this one. It is an absolute essential for anyone dealing

with functional problems of the digestive tract. Dr. Sandberg-Lewis is a

legend in the Naturopathic medical community with over thirty years clinical

and teaching experience in gastroenterology. The knowledge he shares in this

book is extremely enlightening and will help countless doctors and patients.

Thank you!"

--Allison Siebecker, ND, MSOM, SIBO Consulting Physician

Lecturer and Author

"In Dr. Sandberg-Lewis' textbook, a parable about "Thinking Outside The Box"

is described. Medical practitioners have boxed themselves into a tight and limited

box of conventional wisdom derived from medical school and residency

(where they were taught by a doctor just a few years older than themselves).

This is anything but wise. Functional Gastroenterology takes a fresh look at

GI disorders and can be a great resource to people with an open mind wishing

to expand their horizons."

--Leonard Weinstock, MD, Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine

Clinician, Author, and Researcher

" Presenting options for comprehensive physical exam, laboratory assessment

and treatment, this text provides the basis for primary and specialty physicians

to diagnose and treat functional GI tract disorders."

--Jonathan Collin, MD
