About the Author

Gillian Shields is the author of several picture books, including When the World Is Ready for Bed(Bloomsbury USA), Puppy Love: The Story of Esme andSam, and The Perfect Bear (both Simon &Schuster). She has also written several novels for youngadults. Gillian lives in England.
Geraldine McCaughrean is the author of the Printz Award winner The White Darkness, the New York Times bestseller Peter Pan in Scarlet, and many other books for children and young adults. She is a two-time winner of the Carnegie Medal, once for Where the World Ends. Geraldine lives in Berkshire with her husband John and the lingering shades of all those characters she has invented in her books. Her cottage is under year-round siege from wild birds demanding to be fed. The ducks even knock on the door.
Martin Waddell is the award-winning author of many books for children, including Can't You Sleep, Little Bear? and the other Little Bear books, illustrated by Barbara Firth, Farmer Duck, illustrated by Helen Oxenbury, and Owl Babies, illustrated by Patrick Benson. He lives in Northern Ireland.
T.S Spookytooth has been illustrating for many years. Throughout these years of brandishing a paintbrush, he has explored the diverse fields of children's picture books; magazine and newspaper illustrations; and advertising, packaging, and illustrating for websites.

When not working on illustration commissions, he likes to find time to work on many of his own personal projects. He keeps these projects locked in a suitcase but sometimes he forgets where he left the key. An ideal day for Mr. Spookytooth is to ponder and then to draw these ponderings. Some food is fitted in along the way followed by more ponderings and the occasional readjustment of his bow tie, but ponderings are the main order of the day.

He also lives in a house with Mrs. Spookytooth and thankfully she is fond of a ponder as well . . . and is good at finding lost keys.
