About the Author

Joseph Deitch was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and an alumnus of Harvard Business School's Owner/President Management Program. After college, he followed his muse and moved to the US Virgin Islands and eventually returned to Boston to pursue a career in financial services, always trying to merge the ethos of the islands and the entrepreneur. Joe is the founder and chairman of Commonwealth Financial Network, the largest privately owned independent investment broker/dealer in the United States, with assets under management of approximately 150 billion dollars. He is also chairman of Southworth Development, a golf and resort real estate company with properties in the US, the Bahamas, and Scotland. Joe has dedicated his professional career to the goals of quality and community, constantly trying to create and then refine "the ideal environment." In 2011, he founded the Deitch Leadership Institute at the Boston Latin School, the oldest public school in the United States. He has also been a Broadway producer and in 2012, he won a Tony Award as co-producer of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess. In 2010, the editors of Investment Advisor magazine selected him as one of the thirty most influential leaders in and around the financial planning profession over the previous three decades. He divides his time primarily between Miami, Boston, and Cape Cod depending on the weather.

"Insightful, practical, and full of wisdom . . . Elevate is for those who know they have so much more potential but struggle with things holding them back. Deitch trans-forms decades of experience and thought into a clear path to better awareness about the obstacles and practical action."
--Shawn Achor, New York Times best-selling author of The Happiness Advantage

"As I approach my 80th year, I firmly believe that if you stop learning, you should lie down and let them throw dirt on you, because you are already dead. Read Elevate, and you'll learn some new ways of not only thinking about life but, more important, doing life."
--Ken Blanchard, coauthor of The New One Minute Manager(R)and coeditor of Servant Leadership in Action

"I told Joe Deitch months ago after I read the draft of Elevate that I could not wait for it to be published. Read it, study it, think about it, and implement it. Real happiness and success is not about what you know, what you do, or how much money you make. It is about who you are."
--Lee Cockerell, former executive vice president, Walt Disney World Resort and best-selling author of Creating Magic
