About the Author

William Miniver is a lifelong lover of nature. When he was a boy growing up in New York, one of his favorite activities was looking for finds to add to his nature collection. One of the stars of his collection was a piece of driftwood, which he found on a beach on Long Island. Today, William lives in Georgia. He enjoys hiking and exploring nature with his children, and is still looking for new finds.

Charles Vess is a critically acclaimed artist and comic book illustrator. He has previously collaborated with renowned authors such as Neil Gaiman and Charles de Lint, and he most recently illustrated The Books of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin (Saga Press). Charles has won multiple Eisner Awards, Hugo Awards, and World Fantasy Awards. He lives in Virginia. www.greenmanpress.com

Kirkus Reviews (STARRED review)
"The text educates stealthily, never sacrificing the soothing, poetic, and cyclical story, which has the makings of a classic. . . . Content and style, structure and illustrations combine to make this a beautiful and satisfying story."

Publishers Weekly (STARRED review)
"The hazy texture and precise detail of Vess's colored pencil and ink illustrations, which utilize panels to underline the bough's movements, pair beautifully with Minever's dreamy, poetic prose."

School Library Journal
"Readers of all ages will enjoy the beauty and elegance intrinsic to this story about how a single branch can be so much more."
