About the Author

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, born in 1547, is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the Spanish language and one of the world's preeminent novelists. He published Don Quixote in two parts between 1605 and 1615; both are included in this large-format volume. Much of his life was spent in poverty and obscurity, and the bulk of his surviving work was produced in the three years preceding his death. Despite this, his enormous influence is reflected by the fact that Spanish is often referred to as the language of Cervantes.
