Coverdale's Psalter
Myles Coverdale
(Author)
Description
Myles Coverdale's translation of the Psalms is one of the most enduring-although the rest of the Bible was replaced by the Authorized Version in the Church of England, Coverdale's familiar translation remained in the Book of Common Prayer, and remains so to this day in England. This edition follows the text in the English 1662 BCP, and also contains the canticles for morning and evening prayer. This edition of the Psalms is subtly lined to facilitate chanting; notation of a tone from the Sarum Tonale is given with each psalm.Product Details

About the Author
One of the early English Reformers, Myles Coverdale laboured extensively on the early English Bible, and on translating and publishing the best of foreign Christian works for the English reading public. He produced the first English printed Bible, the 1535 Coverdale edition, which was also the first English Bible to be licensed for use in the Church of England. His Scripture translations were taken in part into the 1537 Matthew Bible.
