About the Author

Linda Hachfeld, MPH, RD, is the former nutrition coordinator for the Mankato Heart Health Program and has volunteered with the American Heart Association for 35 years. She holds a master's degree in public health and has been a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for 40 years. She lives in Minnesota.
Amy Myrdal Miller, MS, RDN, FAND, is an award-winning dietitian, farmer's daughter, public speaker, author, and president of Farmer's Daughter(R) Consulting, Inc., an agriculture, food, and culinary communications firm. Amy's career highlights include working for Dole Food Company, the California Walnut Commission and California Walnut Board, and The Culinary Institute of America. A farmer's daughter from North Dakota, today Amy and her husband Scott Miller live in Carmichael, California with "the interns" Violet Grey and Schroeder the Shredder.
Jane Brody is the Personal Health columnist for The New York Times, a position she has held since 1976.
