Spending the summer on her grandparents' Wyoming ranch was a new and exciting opportunity for ten-year-old Mary Andrews. She lived in Denver, Colorado, and being around horses and cattle every day was a different experience. Having to do daily chores like gathering eggs and keeping an extra-close eye on her dog Princess was also new. She found it hard enough to just make her bed and keeping her clothes picked up. But life took a dramatic turn for the young girl when she was given her first horse. Mary had never ridden before and there was a lot to learn. About the Author
Phil Mills, Jr. is a longtime member of the Western Writers of America, the Oregon-California Trails Association, the Montana Historical Association, and is a lifetime member of the Custer Battlefield Historical & Museum Association. He is also an active member of the Booth Writers Guild, in association with the Booth Western Art Museum. In 2010, he was a WWA Spur Finalist winner for Best Western Audiobook for his novel Where A Good Wind Blows, along with numerous other writing and editing awards. His children's books Scooter: The Cow Dog and Mud Between My Toes have received critical acclaim and positive reviews. His experience includes being a rodeo announcer, small town newspaper editor, farm magazine editor, and work with two major advertising/public relations agencies. He was born and raised on a Missouri farm. Today, Phil lives in Georgia and has two married daughters and four grandchildren.
Jeanne Conway is an artist, illustrator, children's book author, and art educator from St. Louis, Missouri. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
