ROGER TORY PETERSON, one of the world's greatest naturalists, received every major award for ornithology, natural science, and conservation as well as numerous honorary degrees, medals, and citations, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Lee Allen Peterson holds a degree in the natural sciences from Johns Hopkins University. He is intimately acquainted with the field guide approach created by Roger Tory Peterson, his father. Peterson was raised in Connecticut and has traveled widely in the United States and Canada. He is well versed in the study and practice of gastronomic botany.
